How to

Make This SPIRAL Holiday ORNAMENT

Aluminum wire is just perfect for making lightweight and inexpensive Holiday Ornaments! Shown: A 5 inch long ornament made of 8 gauge aluminum wire wound in a spiral, pulled out and adjusted.

With a little practice you can create this keepsake ornament:

1. Drive two nails in a board. With the center end of the wire held by the nails, carefully spiral the wire into a flat coil.

For this demonstration we have used 10 feet of 6 gauge aluminum wire which will produce a 16 inch long ornament.

2. Use one hand to hold the coil flat. The more round the coil is the fewer adjustments will be needed later.

3.Remove coil from the board and pull out the center up vertically.

4. Adjust the coil so it is even. - You could stop here and have a holiday tree table top ornament.

5. Shape the end of the coil toward the enter and make a loop with a needle nose pliers.

6. Turn the loop up for the hanger, even out the distance between the coils and trim the other end of the wire for a finished look.

7.Buff up the ornament with a fine abrasive wool or a jewelry cloth. For a satin finish simply use a kitchen scrub pad.

THE FINISHED SPIRAL ORNAMENT- Hang with a ribbon or cord.

8. Fill with pine cones, glass balls, marbles, gifts, candy etc. & hang anywhere.

Or reshape into a cornucopia as a harvest/ thanksgiving ornament.

Aluminum wire is lightweight for hanging on Christmas trees.

The wire will retain its silvery color for years with little cleaning.

Order samples and experiment you may end up with a keepsake family ornament or a lovely gift!
