This 164+ year old version of the Winsor
Newton catalog lists watercolor supplies , paint, paper &
brushes available to artists of the time.

- The catalog section in
back is 24 pages- and the art book in the front is 60 pages.

- They printed the same
catalog version for several years in the back of art books they
produced. This is a book on sketching from nature, published
in 1851.

- The date
of the catalog in back is earlier- c.1848 derived from page 3
shown below.

- They began
producing moist paint in 1832 & "sixteen years experience"
later would be 1848, when the catalog was written.(see text below)

- This is
one of the earliest surviving versions of a Winsor Newton catalogue

- A single
copy of the earliest catalogue known by Winsor Newton is in their
archive. In that catalog a similar text relates it is
"Fifteen years' years experience" since producing moist
paint in 1832 which would be 1847

- The catalogue
shown here is only a year later.

is approximately 7 " x 4 3/4 Softbound.

shown:
- Yellowing to
pages , soiling,stains and discoloration .
- Some pages a
bit loose. Some denting/ ripples to pages cover.
- Book has some
folds smalls tears.

- Spine has been
repaired. Covers: corners rounded & there is a signature
and note on the front cover.

- But is nice
condition considering the age of this window to the past.
