J B Green & Sons Co. Antique & Vintage Handmade Papers For Watercolor , Drawing & Print The papers Shown here are for historical interest. The Green family began making paper in 1813 and closed the mill in 1987.

"Charles 1" HAND-MADE Laid paper     A fine laid paper with a light grey color   hand made By J B Green, England   65gsm weight 465 x 590mm or approximately 23 x18.25 inches   A great art paper also useful for restoration of works on this paper. Watermark photo was taken with light coming through back of paper makes paper look a different color than its beautiful light grey color. Watermarks : "J B G" in a shield and "Charles 1" Twice on the sheets There are also the watermarks "F J Head" "Hand Made" not shown

 

 

"Bodleian" Mould-made Laid paper     A fine laid paper with a light buttery cream color Watermarks: "BODLEIAN" and "MOULD MADE " By J B Green, England   80 gsm weight 704 x 525 mm   A great laid texture used for books and highly regarded for restoration. Watermark photo was taken with light coming through back of paper makes paper look darker than its beautiful buttery cream color.

HAND-MADE Wove paper     A fine wove paper with a light blue grey color   hand made By J B Green, England       I believe this paper was called "Turner Grey" or "Turner Blue"     A great art paper also useful for restoration of works on this paper. Watermark photo was taken with light coming through back of paper does not show the exact color of the paper. Watermarks : "J B G" and "1976"

CRISBROOK HAND-MADE PRINT PAPER WATERLEAF- A Legendary paper. a sheet from 1973 with watermark of the time note watermark photo below was taken with light coming through the paper and the cotton white paper looks darker the watermark lines have been parts traced with highlighting to show better on this thick paper - Please forgive any mistracing we do not have a better example at this time.       .     ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ a sheet from 1986 with a later watermark                     Crisbrook Hand Made Paper - 1986 hand made at the Hayle Mill, England 100%cotton with a beautiful near white color 140lb Cold (not hot) pressed. Imperial size -approximately 22 1/2 x 31 J. Green & Sons   This paper is a waterleaf -unsized, for printmaking. It is not sized for watercolor. It can be used for some types of drawing. This is a legendary paper considered one of the finest for printmaking.     The Mill closed in 1987 and remaining unused papers like this are highly sought after throughout the world. Also used for restoration of works on this paper. Watermark photos below were taken with light coming through back of paper makes paper look darker than its beautiful near white color. Watermarks :"J B G 1986" lower right side of sheets "CRISBROOK HAND-MADE" lower left side of sheets

 

"De Wint" HAND-MADE Wove paper       A fine wove paper with a dark buff color   The top sample is "rugged" texture the watermark is on a slightly smoother Not pressed texture   hand made By J B Green, England 780x570mm approximately and 200 grams weight approximately   this paper was called "De Wint"   A fine paper also useful for restoration of works on this paper. I also use this paper for collage Watermark photo was taken with light coming through back of paper does not show the exact color of the paper. Watermarks : "J B G" in a shield similar to the earlier Crisbrook Paper above and"Hand Made' "1973" not shown

RWS Hand Made Watercolour Paper - Watermark made at the Hayle Mill, England 90 lb Cold (not hot) pressed. J. Green & Sons   This paper was made to the specifications of the Royal Watercolour Society
